Edmund Oropez, the district鈥檚 Chief Officer for Teaching and Learning, has informed Superintendent Paul Cruz of his intent to retire following the conclusion of the 2017鈥18 school year, effective Aug. 31, 2018.

Edmund Oropez, the district鈥檚 Chief Officer for Teaching and Learning, has informed Superintendent Paul Cruz of his intent to retire following the conclusion of the 2017鈥18 school year, effective Aug. 31, 2018.

Oropez鈥檚 professional career in education spans nearly three decades and includes 14 years with AISD.
His roles with the district previously included principal of Lanier High 小黄鸭导航, associate superintendent of high schools, and his current position as chief officer for teaching and learning.
As Chief Officer for Teaching and Learning, Oropez leads the focus on student learning and academics for the district鈥檚 130 schools and more than 80,000 students.
He supervises the district鈥檚 associate superintendents and includes the divisions of special education, early childhood, multilingual education, academics and social and emotional learning, and the Office of 小黄鸭导航, Family and Community.
