Early College High СѼ Expands to Travis

Free is the cost of up to 60 hours of college credit for south СѼ students

Beginning today, the early college high school program located at William B. Travis High СѼ will give students the opportunity to take college courses for credit.

Through the early college high school program, students can earn up to 60 hours of college credit for free, with the opportunity to earn an associate degree.

“This program not only saves students and their families money when they earn college credit for free, but it will also allow these students to complete their bachelor's degree early,” said Travis High СѼ Principal Ty Davidson.

Travis will be the third high school in СѼ ISD to offer this program and the first school south of Lady Bird Lake.

“I'm proud of the Travis High СѼ community for all the hard work they put in day after day to accomplish this,” said AISD Superintendent Paul Cruz.

College credit will be earned through partnership with СѼ Community College as with AISD’s two existing early college high school programs at Reagan and LBJ High СѼs.

“We're glad to be offering this program to more students and hope that many of them will take advantage of this free opportunity,” said СѼ ISD Chief Officer for Teaching and Learning Edmund Oropez.

Travis High СѼ went from being rated improvement required by the Texas Education Agency in 2014 to meeting all state standards and achieving six out of seven distinctions this year.
