Community Volunteers Work Alongside Students to Revitalize Courtyard
С»ÆѼµ¼º½, Texas—This weekend, students at Travis High С»ÆѼµ¼º½ in the С»ÆѼµ¼º½ Independent С»ÆѼµ¼º½ District are rolling up their sleeves for an environmentally friendly, community project-digging into unused courtyard space to add new life to their South С»ÆѼµ¼º½ campus.
Who: Travis students, community volunteers and permaculture experts
What: The school community is working together to green the campus, helping students build a water catchment system, garden planters and edible landscape.
When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26
Where: Travis High С»ÆѼµ¼º½, courtyard, 1211 E Oltorf St.
Background: Travis High С»ÆѼµ¼º½ has invited volunteers to dig, rake, haul supplies and build composting bins and to bring additional tools such as steel rakes, wheel barrows, shovels or pickaxes.
