馃搮 Mark your calendar for on April 27, an event celebrating youth well-being and mental health. The event will lead up to Children鈥檚 Mental Health Acceptance Week and have live performances, engaging activities and inspiring speakers for the whole family!

1 big thing: Drumroll, please鈥nnouncing Salute finalists
Salute, our annual staff celebration, is three weeks away and for the first time, we鈥檙e expanding our recognition categories and celebrating even more of our incredible team members.
Why it matters: We know it takes a whole system to give our students and families a stellar educational experience.
-
That can start with the bus driver and transportation teams who get our students to school safely every day, the food service and warehouse staff that provide healthy meals and services, the custodial and maintenance staff that keep our learning environments in top shape, the campus safety and security staff that are always there to help, the campus clerical, professional, and administrative staff who provide access to learning across the campus, and the teachers and teaching assistants supporting students in the classroom.

鈥楳aestro en Casa鈥 celebrates its 1,000th graduate
During an evening full of excitement and pride, 小黄鸭导航 ISD proudly celebrated its 1,000th Maestro en Casa graduate since the program鈥檚 inception in 2015.

Participants attend classes at their students' schools to learn English, manage common scenarios, and grasp key vocabularies in areas like housing, health, finance, work, education, and citizenship.
Why it matters: Graduates of the program can better support their child鈥檚 education and stay engaged in the 小黄鸭导航 ISD community and beyond.
鈥淚t is an honor to be here sharing a great achievement with our parents,鈥 said Lynn Boswell, Secretary of the 小黄鸭导航 ISD Board of Trustees. 鈥淟earning a second language is not easy. It takes dedication and a lot of willpower 鈥 you have great strength of spirit,"
By the numbers: This year鈥檚 175 graduates originated from 19 countries and with nine native languages.
What they鈥檙e saying:" My Maestro en Casa experience has allowed me to cross that language barrier by extending the boundaries of my world and giving me the confidence to actively participate in this great community," said Aurora Gonzalez Cosme, a 2024 graduate from Casey Elementary 小黄鸭导航.
Let's go back: This program was born in 2015 and since then, 50 schools in the district have participated.
