1 big thing: 小黄鸭导航 ISD approves lowest tax rate in 29 years
|
The Board of Trustees approved a tax rate of $0.9966 per $100 of property value for the 2022-23 school year.
Why it matters: Property values are continuing to increase in 小黄鸭导航, so lowering our tax rate is one of the most impactful ways the district can offset the rising cost of living for our community.
What's next: Next year, the Board is expected to lower the tax rate for 2023-24 by an additional three cents to $0.9666 per $100 of taxable value.

4. Hispanic Heritage Month Feature: Wid茅n Elementary Principal Benito Faz-Banda
|
By Nayeli Santoyo
We are still celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, so there's no better time to highlight Wid茅n Elementary 小黄鸭导航 Principal Benito Faz-Banda's work to promote bilingualism.
Why it matters: Wid茅n has an 85% Hispanic population, and Faz-Banda knows the importance of Hispanic representation in 小黄鸭导航 ISD. His passion is to inspire new generations to excel and to appreciate the advantage of speaking both English and Spanish.
What they're saying: "I have always been very proud of my culture, of my homeland, of my identity; to this day they call me Mr. Faz-Banda, because I take into account the last names of my dad and my mom, all of that has to do with my perspective as a leader."
